Following constant demands from the opposition, the government agreed to allow the debate on the no-confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake on July 4.
However, the opposition demanded the debate to be taken up next week. House Leader Lakshman Kiriella said July 4 was the day decided by the government.
During this argument, Gunawardane warned that the opposition would not allow the government to act in its own way. Kiriella, in response, said the government would not give into the opposition.
