UPFA MP Basil Rajapaksa and three others were granted bail by Colombo High Court a short while ago.

High Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena ordered their release on Rs. 100,000 cash bail and four sureties of Rs. 1 million each.

She made this direction when the revision petition against the Kaduwela Magistrate Court order of not granting bail was considered this morning.

Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, former Secretary to the Ministry Dr. Nihal Jayathilake and former Director of Divi Neguma Department R.A.A.K. Ranawaka were arrested on April 22 by the FCID on alleged financial irregularities of the Divi Neguma Department. The police later arrested another official over the alleged incident.

They were charged on Offences Against Public Property Act.
