Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna plans to hold a massive protest march in Colombo this afternoon, to urge the government to carry out its promises to the people.
Titled “Jana varamata hisa namanu – Dun porondu itu karanu!” (Honor the people’s mandate – Fulfill the promises), the protest march will start at 3.00pm from Punchi Borella. Protesters will march through Maradana to Fort Railway Station.
The JVP is demanding the government to establish independent commissions, introduce Right to Information Bill and Code of Ethics to People’s Representatives, establish National Audit Commission and enforce National Pharmaceutical Policy.
JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and other top leaders will take part in the protest.
