Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake hit out at President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for their inaction towards achieving the main promises of the government.
Speaking at the protest rally near the Fort Railway Station, Dissanayake said that the people did not defeat Mahinda Rajapaksa to see the new President and Prime Minister occupying their seats idly.
People voted for Sirisena to bring corrupt individuals and criminals to justice. People voted for relief and people voted for reform. However, the government has not met people’s aspirations, Dissanayake said.
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva and Politburo Member K. D. Lalkantha also spoke at the rally.
