Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said that President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa cannot be brought to one table or will not be seen on the same political stage adding that they had too many differences.
Speaking at an event yesterday, Ranatunga said that Rajapaksa was promoting racism while Sirisena was promoting communal harmony.
Furthermore, Rajapaksa used the two thirds majority he enjoyed in parliament to increase his powers. Sirisena on the other hand willingly gave up some of his powers. At present, he is fighting to get the 20th Amendment passed since he has made a promise to do so, Ranatunga said.
