Tamil Progressive Alliance is likely to contest the forthcoming general election expected later this year, under the United National Party ticket.
The TPA is reportedly expecting to contest in seven districts as part of the UNP.
The UNP on Friday took the decision to contest the forthcoming polls under its name and symbol, ending weeks of speculations.
The TPA was formed recently by the amalgamation of three parties which primarily represent the Indian Tamil community. These parties are Democratc People's Front led by Mano Ganesan, Upcountry People's Front led by V. Radakrishnan and National Workers Congress led by Palani Digambaran.
