The United National Party National Convention will be held on July 5, Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva stated.

 

On his Twitter page, de Silva also said that the UNP general election campaign will be led by Minister Karu Jayasuriya and UNP Chairman Malik Samarawickrema.

 

These decisions were announced during the meeting of UNP Organizers currently taking place at Sirikotha, the party headquarters. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is meeting the organizers from all electorates to discuss the plans for the general election and the preparations of the party.

 

The UNP Working Committee earlier decided to hold a national convention following the dissolution of the parliament. However, it is still not clear if the parliament will be dissolved before July 5.
