Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that the revolution which was started on January 8 has not ended with the dissolution of parliament.
Speaking at a meeting on Saturday in Yatinuwara, Wickremesinghe said that the next step is the general election.
The 20th Amendment will also be introduced after the election, he added. MEanwhile, the election is an important step in strengthening multi-party democracy in the country, Wickremesinghe said.
Electoral reform was one of the key promises made by President Maithripala Sirisena during the presidential election campaign.
