Pradeep Nilanga Dela has been appointed as the Acting Diyawadana Nilame pending the election of a new Diyawadana Nilame.

 

Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela's term ends today. However, the Commissioner of Buddhist Affairs appointed him as Acting Diyawadana Nilame on the recommendation of the two Chief Prelates of the Siyam Nikaya.

 

The election of a new Diyawadana Nilame should take place within three months.
