Aussies Whitewashed

The Australian team was comprehensively beaten by Sri Lanka in the three match series 3-0. This is only the fourth ever series whitewash by the Lankans. Chasing 324 to win the third Test at SSC, Aussies were bowled out for 160. David Warner, the only batsman who looked promising, departed for 68, when he was bowled by Dilruwan Perera. Pic AP

David Warner's wife Candice and two children are in Sri Lanka on holiday to see him play in the Test series in the island nation. Candice Warner and daughter Ivy, two, posed for a selfie on Monday. Candice captioned the mother-daughter image: 'Tuk Tuk rides to the cricket with my little missy to see daddy @davidwarner31. #Colombo #srilanka.'

Jamaica's Usain Bolt won the third consecutive 100m Olympic gold as he won the race in Rio de Janeiro, clocking a time of 9.81s.

His main competitor Justin Gatlin came second in 9.89s and Canada's Andre de Grasse came third at 9.91s. Jamaica's Yohan Blake finished at 9.93s, coming fourth.

Ethiopia’s Almaz Ayana obliterated the 10,000-metres world record when she ran 29min 17.45sec to win gold in the opening track event of the Olympics on Friday.

South Korea’s Lee Eun Ju and and North Korean gymnast Hong Un Jong seemed oblivious to the bitter feud between their home nations. 

The pair were seen chatting and laughing together as they prepared to compete in the qualification for the artistic women's gymnastics.

Moments later they posed for a selfie together.
