Nine government officials in the Hambantota district have been banned from election duties due to complaints of their involvement in promoting political parties. Hambantota District Election Officer MP Sumanasekara confirmed that the banned individuals include teachers, principals, and public health inspectors.
He reported that complaints have also been filed against ten other officials, and the Election Commission has been notified. The Commission highlighted the necessity of impartiality among officials during the election process.
The Commission requested public officials to maintain respectful relationships with voters and candidates, and to conduct their duties with care to ensure that voters can cast their ballots freely and fairly.
