CID Starts Investigation into Scholarship Exam Leak

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has begun recording statements from several parents of students who took the recent Grade 5 scholarship examination amid allegations of a question leak.

Authorities are investigating claims that questions from the first paper were leaked prior to the exam. The CID is gathering information from parents who may have insight into the incident, with plans to compile the findings into a report for the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission and the judiciary.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has ordered a two-week suspension of the evaluation of scholarship exam answer scripts. This decision has made after a meeting with protesting parents who raised concerns about the integrity of the exam.

Parents have alleged that as many as eight questions were leaked, not just three as previously reported, and have called for a re-examination of the first paper.
