Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera stated that the new political party to be launched by his organization will campaign for the regulation of population growth to avoid various ethnocentric issues.

Speaking at a press conference, he stated that regions should not be created based on ethnic or religious groups. Furthermore, marriage laws should be equal irrespective of the community, he added.

Gnanasara Thera revealed that BBS already has held several discussions with other political parties on working together. However, there will be no alliance with main political parties of the country, he added. Gnanasara Thera also made it clear that the political party to be launched by BBS will have laymen as candidates of elections. Buddhist monks will only guide the movement, he said.

The name or symbol of the party is yet undecided, Gnanasara Thera said.
