The three individuals accused of the brutal murder of a mother and a daughter in the Kotakethana area in Kahawatta, were acquitted by Colombo High Court today.

Colombo High Court judge Devika De Livera Tennakone announced this decision a short while ago.

The Attorney General instituted legal action against the three accused over the murder of Liyanarchchige Premawathi (63) and her daughter Hewagamage Pushapkumari.

They were found brutally murdered and burned in their house in July 2012.

The verdict in the case was due on May 7 this year. However, the judge postponed the date of the verdict for today.
