JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva stated that the government has failed to deliver on most of the promises given by President Maithripala Sirisena. While the 19th Amendment was passed, the 20th amendment has stalled and there is nothing on the Right to Information Bill and Code of Ethics for politicians.
Speaking at a press conference today, he pointed out that electoral reforms process have stalled because of the opposition of certain groups.
He added that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party blocks the process as it wants to portray the difficulty of the process and prolong the parliament.
The parliament does not agree with people’s mandate, Silva said. Therefore, it should be dissolved, he added.
However, Silva also pointed out that the Constitutional Council should be appointed before the general election.
