The dispute regarding the booklet distributed at a Sri Lanka Freedom Party press conference seems to be heading on towards a full-fledged battle after Minister S. B. Dissanayake’s claim that the booklet was printed with the President’s approval.
He told a local media station that the booklet was printed to inform the ground level SLFP members who are confused on the political situation in the country at the moment.
Meanwhile, Shantha Bandara, another minister in the present government endorsed the book yesterday, claiming that it gives the guidelines for UPFA to return to power.
However, both the General Secretary of SLFP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and General Secretary of UPFA Susil Premajayantha refused to acknowledge the book as the position of the party.
Anura Priyadarshana Yapa recently told Asian Mirror that he was reporting the matter to the Central Committee of the SLFP. Meanwhile, speculation is high of the imminent removal of both Yapa and Premajayantha from their posts.
However, Yapa dismissed these speculations as rumors.
