JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva stated that the Cabinet has approved a different electoral system from what was suggested earlier.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, he pointed out that the JVP did propose several amendments to the proposed electoral system. However, since the Cabinet has suddenly approved a new system, the party has to study it closely, he added.

Silva pointed out that the JVP will be able to state anything on the electoral system only after serious deliberation.
