Former defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa answered speculations on his possible entrance to politics yesterday, saying that he will not enter politics.
He made this comment speaking to media after a religious function at a Buddhist temple in Padukka.
He also refuted the allegation that his alleged involvement with the Bodu Bala Sena helped the defeat of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa. The former defence secretary added that he was not a person who was involved in politics.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa has given several indications of his entrance to politics during the last few months. In August 2014, when he was the defence secretary, Rajapaksa said that he will not enter politics without an invitation from his brother then president Mahinda Rajapaksa. Following the presidential election, he stated that he is being pushed into entering politics.
