Deputy Minister of Social Services, Welfare and Livestock Development Ranjan Ramanayaka on Monday (15) claimed that UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa was responsible for the mudslinging cyber campaigns against him and other upcoming politicians such as Malsha Kumaratunge.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, Ramanayake further stated that Namal Rajapaksa and his supporters spent more than Rs. two millions per month for such mudslinging campaigns.
Ramanayake also said that initially he suspected that UPFA MP Wimal Weerawansa and his supporters were behind those Facebook campaigns. But Western Provincial Councilor Malsha Kumaratunge informed him that Namal Rajapaksa is also responsible for such activities, he added.
"Malsha Kumaratunge told me that Iraj Weeraratne and his sister revealed the fact to her" Ramanayake stated.
It is likely to be true since Iraj Weeraratne and Namal Rajapaksa are very close friends, he said.
However as CID investigations are currently being conducted, the true faces of everyone responsible will be revealed in near future, he also said.
Ranjan Ramanayake on June 04 filed a complaint with CID over a campaign to defame him on Facebook.
