UNP MP of Kurunegala District Nalin Bandara stated that the Athuraliye Rathana Thera was demanding the replacement of the government, perhaps because he wanted the Prime Minister to be removed.

 

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, Bandara added that the UNP was in favor of introducing the 20th Amendment. However, it is not in favor of delaying the election giving the 20th Amendment as an excuse, he added.

 

Pivithuru Hetak National Council Chairman Athuraliye Rathana Thera slammed the government for its haphazardness and added the UNP was wrong to call for the dissolution of parliament before the 20th Amendment is passed.
