Minister of Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilaka stated that the people did not give a mandate to hand over the government back to the opposition.

 

Speaking at a press conference at 'Sirikotha', the UNP headquarters, Karunathilaka said that the people are not ready to see the handing over of the government to the same set of people who ruled the country for the past decade.

 

If the opposition is seeking to replace the government, the best way will be to seek a mandate from the people in the next election, he added.

 

Karunathilaka made this observation in response to recent demands from the opposition to replace the Prime Minister with a MP from the UPFA.
